Welcome to Room 208!
This is my tenth year in Lomira. I live in the community and have enjoyed becoming part of it. It is a great place to teach and I really enjoy my students. This year I am teaching American Government, a civics, government, and economics course for juniors and seniors as well as 7th grade Geography. I advise the International Club and work with our AFS Students and in the past I have also taught Spanish I and 8th Grade Spanish. I am the Varsity Softball and Volleyball Coach and I am looking forward to another exciting and successful season ahead. It should be an fun and busy year!
I am originally from Waunakee, WI (just north of Madison). I played softball and volleyball in high school and I was a percussionist in band. Family has always been important to me. I am a newlywed and my husband Corey and I live in Lomira. I have a sister, Alexandra, brother-in-law Ryan and niece Quinn. My parents are Gary and Jane. I also am lucky enough to live near my 50+ cousins (and growing) and 30 aunts and uncles, and we still all get together for birthdays and holidays.
I went to UW-Eau Claire and studied Broadfield Social Studies Education with a History Emphasis. I also have a Spanish Teaching Minor. While at UWEC, I played and was a Student-Coach for the UWEC Blugold Softball Team and we won the Division III National Championship in 2008. I was lucky enough to Study Abroad twice. In the summer of 2008 I went on a three and a half week history travel seminar to Europe, touring Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia. In the summer of 2009, I studied abroad in Costa Rica for 6 weeks to fulfill my Spanish Teaching minor and I learned much about the culture. I had the pleasure of traveling back to Costa Rica in 2014 with a group of students and parents from LHS and this past summer I traveled to Spain with a group of students again! Both were amazing experiences and I hope to make this available to more students in the future.
I continue to play softball and volleyball today. I also enjoy reading and watching my favorite sports teams, the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. I like spending time with my family at my cabin, fishing, swimming, and relaxing. I still have the travel bug and I hope to visit many places soon.
